The construction industry has one of the worst mental health rates of any sector in the UK. Typically male manual workers are almost 4 times more likely than the national average to die from suicide. 

This course will take participants through key aspects of mental health in an often “macho” industry, identifying issues and providing coping strategies.

Mixed anxiety and depression are the most common mental conditions in the UK.8% of people have been clinically diagnosed and many more have undiagnosed anxiety and or depression. The course looks to understand the role of stress and how it can manifest into anxiety. We will look at how depression can be detected in ourselves and others and develop strategies to help ourselves and others in the workplace or at home.

One in four women who are going through menopause have thought about leaving their job because of their symptoms (cipd.co.uk,2020). This often taboo subject can be hidden in the workplace because there is stigma and a feeling that organisations are unprepared or uninterested in dealing with it. Menopausal and perimenopausal women make up a substantial proportion of the workforce and this number is growing. In keeping with the Equalities Act, organisations can take steps to recognise the impact of the menopause and know how to respond.

This Mental Health First Response course builds on other Mental Health First Aid courses and has been updated for COVID. At the end of the course the learner will have:

  • an understanding of risk factors, including the effects of isolation, stress, remote working and financial hardship

Mental Health for Managers is a popular two part course which discovers the unique needs of your managers dealing with teams as well as clients. We cover  identifying and understanding a range of common mental health issues as well as looking at relevant examples in the workplace especially as impacted by Covid 19.  This course will enable managers to explore ways to promote mental health and wellbeing in the workplace and in their own lives.

People who think about suicide don’t want to die, they just want to stop the way they are feeling. This important issue is discussed in a safe space with health professionals.
